Lindsay & Nate

...and their intimate botanical  wedding!

How did you two meet?

"Nate and I met online. Our first meetup was downtown at Dry 85. I was a bit surprised when he said he had to head home early. Later I learned it was because he had to wake up at 430 am. But before he left he did ask me on another date. This time it was Axe throwing at Urban Axes Baltimore. And of course, I beat him- but he didn't let me win..."

How did he propose?

"Nate proposed on May the 4th at Quiet Waters Park. We spent a lot of time there walking the dogs on the trails during COVID-19. As we headed to the park the clouds were getting dark and I was like we don't have to go, it's going to storm. Nate insisted. We went on our normal trail and midway it started to drizzle and thunder. We saw runners racing back to their cars. Nate insisted that we keep going saying it will just blow by. By the time we got to the overlook of Spa Creek it was pouring down raining. Nate dropped to his knee and proposed with thunder and lightning all around him. I honestly don't even recall all he said because I was so stressed we'd get struck by lightning. I quickly said yes, kissed him and we ran back to the car. I didn't even get a good look at the ring. Once we got to the car we were soaked and the rain stopped. The sun returned and there was a beautiful rainbow. We went to both our parent's homes to share the news!"

Tell us about your say YES experience here at Love & Lace!

"Love and Lace was my second stop. I loved how warmly I was greeted by Nicole, and how welcoming the environment was. I had been to another shop before which had a very large selection of dresses, that mostly all looked the same for plus size brides. Nicole asked me lots of questions to get to know what I was looking for. She helped me pick a few dresses. Being a plus size bride I wanted something that made me feel confident, comfortable and sexy. The dress I chose was the second dress I tried on. I loved it-I felt beautiful and sexy. Nicole helped me pair the dress with a coordinating veil and flowers so I could see the full look. I actually had another appointment that afternoon at another shop but I didn't even want to go to that appointment. I had found my dress! Love and Lace also worked with me to give me ideas on how to custom design my veil. They were able to order extra lace for me so I could have exactly what I wanted!"

What was your favorite moment on your wedding day?

"Our favorite moment was during our ceremony. Our minister who was traveling from out of state on his birthday was stuck in severe traffic. He called to let us know at 2:30 pm that he would likely be late. We improvised and did all of the wedding photos before the actual ceremony. At about 4:15 pm our photographer let us know that she was losing light and if we wanted ceremony pictures we needed to move quickly. So I ran to one of Nate's best friends and asked him to marry us. He thought I was joking at first, but then realizing the dire situation happily agreed. He quickly found a wedding ceremony on the internet and read it off his phone. Throughout the entire ceremony I could not stop laughing- it was just our luck. But we were so fortunate to have him there to save the day!"

Congratulations Lindsay & Nate!

What advice would you give to another bride?

"Everyone will give you their opinion - from your dress to food to venue to flowers- whether you ask for it or not. If you ask for it, be prepared. Take the time to make sure you choose what you want as a couple- It's your day and it's your wedding. All you need to make happy is the two of you. Everyone else is just lucky to be involved. Also if there are things you absolutely don't care about- let someone else help with that part.

Splurge on your photographer- you want someone who captures every single emotion of the day-you want the story. The photos are the only thing that last forever!"
