Cassie & Jim

... and their whimsical mountain wedding!

How did we meet?:

"Jim and I matched on the dating app Hinge. We actually joke a lot about this and say that we should be getting paid by hinge. His best friend told him to download the app and he is now engaged to a girl he met on hinge. My old coworker, who married a man she met on hinge, was the one that told me to download the app. AND, since I had met Jim on the app and at the time was pretty certain he was the one, I told my best friend to download hinge and she ended up getting married to a man she met on hinge a few months before I did."

How did he propose:

"Jim does landscape photography for fun on the side and he always goes on adventures to capture the beauty of the different seasons. I always love going with him on his adventures to enjoy nature. He had previously taken a trip down to North Carolina to see the Rhododendrons blooming up on the Blue Ridge Parkway. On his first trip, I was unable to go due to work. After his trip he kept saying that he really wanted to take me to see them bloom. When he mentioned going on a trip with him to see the Rhododendrons, I of course wanted to tag along. He took me on a 7 mile hike, in the middle of nowhere. We scouted out places to watch sunset and found the perfect place to set up. He set up his camera and asked if I wanted to take a picture with him, which is something we often do so I didn't think anything of it. He set up the timer and came down next to me. He was acting very fidgety, and when I looked over to see what was going on he was down on one knee. I had no idea it was coming."

Experience at L&L:

"My experience was everything I could have hoped for. I was very grateful to have my mom, sister, mother-in-law and sister-in-law at the appointment. This was my first time trying on dresses and the dress I ended up choosing was the very first dress I put on. Everyone loved it, but it was more detailed than what I originally pictured. I tried on a few more dresses and there was one other, simpler contender. We decided to put back on the first dress and put a veil on, and everyone started crying when I came out. Seeing myself in the dress with the veil, made everything feel more real and I could see myself walking down the isle in it."

Favorite Moment:

"My husband is very reserved and so we decided to do a first look and exchange private written vows. We both agree that this was the most special and favorite moment of the day. We both greatly anticipated seeing each other dressed up in our wedding day clothes and the words he said to me were the most beautiful thing I've heard him say."

What advice would you give?:

"Even though everyone says it, don't stress too much about all of the little details. Focus on why you are there and what the day is about. I was extremely stressed out the days leading up to the wedding and my husband kept reminding me that the day is about us and literally nothing else matters because at the end of the day we are still going to get married regardless of what comes up!

Don't forget about budgeting for things after the wedding. I did not think about all the expenses I would have after the wedding such as getting my gown cleaned and preserved, getting my bouquet preserved, etc. Make sure to think about what you want to do after the wedding and budget accordingly."
